The small town of Punat is situated in one of the most protected bays on the Adriatic sea, a paradise for navigators and surfers, in Punat bay on the suth side of the Island of Krk. Punat features typical seaside town architecture, with distinctive doorways, stairways and two squares, Mala and Vela Placa, as the former town center.
Among numerous attractions in the
field of cultural heritage, whe would like to
point out the
church of St. Donatus,
ruins of three
churches of
St. Peter from the 6th century
(at the entrance to Punat, behind the hotel
Kanajt), the parish church St. Trinity
(from 1777.
G), Three
cross above Punat... Specially we would point out a small island of Košljun, in the middle of Puntarska Bay, with a Franciscan monastery, as nature park with more than 400
species of plants, valuable ethnographic
collection and a
library with more than 30,000 titles, some of
which are true
rarities.
The town beach at Punat is suitable for children
and the elderly, because of access to the sea and shallow water. In the part of
Punat, which is called Punta
de Bilj, is a beautiful sandy beach and lots of beach bars
where the wisitors can take a break from the sun with a
cold drink. Also in this area is a center for water sports
and beach volleyball. Punat, with Stara Baška is known for its beaches, which
are located near the site,
and that can be reached only by boat. For
this purpose, it is possible to rent a
boat, or hire a taxi ship that transports to
these beaches.
To make the
guests spent an
active holiday, there
are numerous summer events. These events include performances of singing
groups, majorettes and a brass band on the waterfront, classical music concerts on
the islet in the
Parish Church, folklore
